Useful knowledge should lead to better planning.
Climate-smart agriculture requires an understanding of climate risks alongside production, livelihoods and the people responsible for putting plans into practice. Training is most useful when it connects these concerns to participants’ responsibilities.
Experience spotlight: FAO training of trainers
In July 2021, Daira Sabz undertook an assignment for FAO Afghanistan supporting a training-of-trainers programme for AFSeN and its stakeholders in Kabul. The agreed scope included training materials, analysis of participants’ knowledge before and after training, a final report and recommendations for future capacity development.
The workshop objectives covered climate science, risks to agriculture and food security, sustainable production, resilience and gender-responsive planning.
